About Us: Mid Columbia Auto Academy LLC (MCAA) is certified by the DMV and approved by ODOT. We are fully licensed by the State of Oregon and meet all insurance requirements.
Student Driving Programs:
Students aged 15-18 who complete MCAA’s classroom and behind-the-wheel training do not need to take the DMV’s behind-the-wheel drive test to get their license. We accept any student from any district as long as they are 15 or older with a permit. Our Driver Education class is a safety course to teach students how to be safe in the car, not how to drive. Students must have 10-15 hours of practice driving with an adult after getting their permit before attending our class.
Funding: The Drivers Education program is funded by students' tuition and reimbursement from the Oregon Department of Transportation. Local school districts do not fund the program.
Drivers Over 18 or Turning 18: The tuition price is only for students with permits, not for licensed drivers. If a student has a license, gets their license while taking the class, or turns 18 before completing the class, the tuition will be $630.00. Driver education is part of the process for getting a provisional license (permit). 18-year-olds do not need a drivers education class.
ODOT Teen Program:
Available for teens aged 15-17 (18+ year-olds do not get a DMV drive test waiver)
Waives DMV drive test requirement
